Edward Drudge a longtime resident died at his daughter's home Wednesday evening after kidney trouble and dropsy. He was 63 years old and survived by his wife, three sons, and five daughters. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 PM in the local U B church.
Town whispers speak of an upcoming wedding involving a local figure. No specific names or dates are confirmed, but residents expect a ceremony in the near future drawing community interest.
Youths in the locality spent many hours skating on the pond south of town the past week. Cold weather kept the ice strong and many skaters were seen on the lake Sunday passing pleasant hours.
Members of the Mazda class of the M. E. Sunday school met at the Burdge home. A program was presented and refreshments served. Fred Lewis of Warsaw received a suspended one to five year term in Michigan City prison for forgery with a $100 fine and costs of 8 20. He pled guilty after forging a check two weeks earlier and will serve 125 days on the penal farm due to nonpayment. He is thirty three with a wife and several children.
Five vacuum cleaners priced seven dollars each are advertised at Downings in Claypool. The listing notes domestic use and small engine items among household goods available for sale.
A high school literary program was held Tuesday afternoon with more than a score of patrons in attendance. Pupils delivered recitations readings vocal and instrumental music, each number met with interest and appreciation. The events provided educational value beyond the effort involved.
In the Critical Condition era William Dillman has remained in a very critical state during the past week and shows gradual weakening.
J. W. Ferrerda has secured a thirty-day leave of absence from the Big Four station. Mr. LeKown of Alexandria will fill the Place at the station during the absence.
Summetros bought a Ford automobile on Tuesday for use in their hardware business.
The Record will not be published the week between Christmas and New Year to straighten books for the new year. The next issue appears Thursday January 6, 1916. Readers are wished a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
Mrs Roscoe Self and her little daughter arrived Wednesday from Williston North Dakota to visit her mother Mrs Amanda Rhodes and family at the S J Self home.
The Silver Lake boys defeated Lake Town in a Friday basketball game. The match featured strong offense from Silver Lake and a late surge to secure the win.
The K of P lodge hosted a moving picture entertainment and oyster supper last Monday evening. The event drew a large attendance from the lodge membership along with wives and friends.
Mrs. J. R. Norman visited her sister in Marion yesterday and will join her brother William Sharon at his Dayton home for a brief stay. Also accompanying are Mr. W. T. Whistler and Claud Norman, with Sharon as Mrs. Norman and Mrs. Whistler's brother.
A happy gathering occurred last Sunday at the A Metzger home northeast of town. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Emery Metzger with three children, Mr and Mrs Ezra Mezger with three children, Mr and Mrs Sim Smith with seven children, and Mr and Mrs Clarence Helvey with four children. Frances Rager and family were absent. The hostess played Santa in the afternoon and provided much amusement for all ages.
The Ladies Aid Society of the U. B. church will serve a chicken dinner with all the trimmings on New Year’s Day in the church basement. All are invited to enjoy the meal and support the women in their charitable work.
Howard Cuilett will depart in a few days to travel to Iowa where he plans to stay with his brother and family for an extended visit.

Arthur Smith living west of town suffered a light stroke of paralysis on Wednesday afternoon. The attack affected only the vocal organs and has not proved serious thus far.
As we go to press today the Howard Collett sale is underway with indications that most items will fetch fair prices.
A Christmas program will be presented at South Pleasant church three miles south of town tomorrow Friday evening. The Pleasant Hustlers class aided by classes one and two of the Sunday School will perform. An invitation is extended to all to attend.
Here From the West reports A L Brenneman and his uncle N M Frantz with family visiting east of town for several days. Brenneman, son of Henry and wife, moved from Wanatchee Washington to North Manchester to stay in Indiana until about March.
Tuesday evening the M. E. Sunday school elected officers for the coming year. Superintendent L. M. Burdee and Assistant Supt. R. M. Frye were chosen. Secretary Donald Leonard Ss. Ww. Smith. Treasurers Pinovist Fe and Luis Alrey. Chorister Mrs. AS Sprigg.

Mr and Mrs Robert McFarland of Peru announce the birth of a baby boy last week. Mrs McFarland was formerly Miss Elsie Miller, who lived here several years ago.
A telegram from J J Babcock reports he and Mrs Babcock reached Citronelle Alabama last Thursday to find his brother J C Babcock gravely ill with asthma and other troubles. The message says the family hopes Judd recovers soon despite the illness.
A plate glass window was shattered Tuesday evening when Ross Stout backed a car inside the garage striking a motorcycle nearby. The impact pushed the motorcycle into the window, breaking the glass into thousands of fragments. A replacement pane will be installed as soon as the new glass arrives.
E A Scoles of Claypool is reported somewhat improved after nearly three months of illness. He has been confined to his room during this period.
State school inspector of Indianapolis and County Supt. Edson B Serber of Warsaw visited Monday and found everything in good condition. They spoke highly of the schools and complimented the instructors.
Tomorrow in the school building two programs will be performed by pupils from the primary and intermediate rooms with the second intermediate and grammar room joining in. The instructors say the programs are above the average and invite patrons to visit the school and listen to the numbers.
Pierre Underhill has accepted a bill clerk position in the Big Four office at Wabash and began work this Monday.
Mr and Mrs Charles Rager returned to Walkerton last Saturday after visiting relatives. On Sunday they began their journey to San Antonio Texas where they plan to make their future home. The community wishes them success in their new location.
