Last Saturday a record rainstorm drenched the town with violent downpour and thunder. A bolt struck the Lutheran church spire splitting the wooden ball and tearing shingles from peak to base while wind toppled cornfields, and the bolt traveled inside through the vestibule.
Goshen News Times notes a dog and pony act by Forrest Tumpest at the Cunningham lot drawing crowds, while town trustees weigh crushed stone over gravel for Main and Jefferson streets. Crushed stone costs 2.10 per yard delivered versus gravel 0.85, with wider street longevity and lower future repairs cited as advantages. The piece advocates crushed stone as the cheaper, better option.
