The quarterly meeting will be held at South Pleasant church on August 13 and 14. Rev. ELL. Lemans, presiding elder, will preach at 6:33 p.m. on the opening night. Conference plans aim for full reports and clear records.
The Silver Lake Cornet Band will host an ice cream social on Hirst Wa sner's lawn Saturday evening. Proceeds aid paying for ten instruments the boys recently purchased. The band invites everyone to come out and support the concert throughout the evening.
Messrs Tucker and Garber announce an auction of Polled Durham cattle S4aert Tora and Double Standard at the J C Tucker farm near Rose Hill. Sale set for Wednesday August st. Catalog ready for distribution next week.
A social gathering was held at the W. F. Ebert home south of town last Sunday honoring Miss Lela Ebert of Teromeville Ohio who is visiting. Attendees included Misses Fanny Suipley Lela Leonard Jane Carter Willette Haskel Nellie Thacker and Ndythe Rhodes. The event featured refreshments from Zitm’s.
Company H. Third Regiment I. N. G. went yesterday for annual camp instructions at Camp Benjamin Harrison near Indianapolis. Co. HT. has led state drill and discipline in past encampments and is expected to uphold this reputation. The company organized in 1900 and maintains a strong record.
A cheerful gathering occurred at the W. L. Miller residence west of town Sunday. Attendees included J. D. Butterbaugh and wife J. C. Butterbaugh and wife Frank Heater and family Mahiton Heater and family Isaac Cook and family of North Manchester Samuel Cripe representative of the Nebraska Republican State Journal with his family of Castings Neb Noah Butterhauch and family Mrs Barbara Butterhaugh and Miss Mary Butterhaugh.
Mrs James Mock formerly Miss Lou Shoemaker adopted daughter of J W Shoemaker of Claypool passed away after two years of ill health from consumption. She leaves a husband two daughters aged 14 and 16 and a son about four. Funeral held in Waynesville North Carolina on Sunday July 30.

Rev. Lloyd C. Douglas resigns from Zion Lutheran church in North Manchester after about two years and accepts the pastorate of First Lutheran church in Lancaster Ohio. He will assume charge next Sunday August 6. He is son of the late Rev. A. J. Douglas who led the local Lutheran church years ago.
Last Saturday evening an open air band concert drew the season's largest crowd, with streets blocked as the crowd gathered. Organizers plan a future festival to raise funds for new instruments music and other expenses.
