Kidney transplant hoped for Taos woman in possible Denver procedure

A kidney transplant for Mrs. Evelyn Anglida of Taos New Mexico may occur today at Colorado General Hospital. An unidentified rare relative is being tested to determine donor viability. The report also notes a fatal Albuquerque wreck and miscellaneous facts from science to history.

Silver City to Honor 50-Year-Old Concrete Streets

Commemorative bronze plaques from the Portland Cement Association will be presented by BE W Thorson to Mayor William Seehle at Silver City Hall for two old thoroughfares. The event includes a luncheon with state officials and Silver City leaders, marking Silver City as the 25th U S community with enduring 50 year old concrete streets.

New Mexico Receives First federal grant under LWCF Act

Washington reported New Mexico became the first state to receive a federal grant under the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act. A $4,986 check was presented by Interior Secretary Stewart Udall to New Mexico's congressional delegation. The program requires states to match funds to prepare outdoor recreation plans.

Students Tour Local Mine Visit Then Head to Washington

AFS visitors enjoyed a high school dance hosted by the local committee before touring the Chino Mines operation. They planned a picnic and horseback ride at Little Walnut, then would travel to Washington with stops en route, meeting President Johnson in the White House and proceeding to New York for departure to their home countries.

Congress weapons extend debate on program renewal

House favors a one year extension while the Senate seeks a two year extension followed by a study group to refashion the program. Conferees met in the afternoon session and made no marked progress. A further session is planned.

Plane lands safely after gear failure near Calistoga

After takeoff, Pan American flight KE timed gear failure forced manual lowering by First Officer F R Miller and crew. Passengers wept with relief as the emergency chute used for deplaning. Nine passengers remained. others continued to Honolulu on a later Pan American 107.

Mountaineer Wins Timber Row With U S Government

Wilford Metcalf of Cocke County Tennessee fought a government timber dispute after a forest ranger halted his cut on land later found to belong to Metcalf. Congressman James Quillen pressed Agriculture Secretary Orville Freeman, leading to a survey confirming ownership and the $1717 bill being dropped.

Determination of Heirship for Wilford Lee in Grant County

In the district court of Grant County New Mexico Walteree petitions for heirship of Wilford Lee deceased. The notice lists Ada Lee Eula Jane Lee and unknown heirs and lien claimants to the real property.
