Funds Awarded in New Mexico Community Action Programs

The Chaves County Community Action Program and the Santa Fe County Community Action Organization will share 221,968 from the Community Services Administration. Chaves County gets 100,692 for information and referral health education housing nutrition and family planning. Santa Fe receives 212,276 for nutrition medical and youth services a referral center family planning weatherization and senior activities.

Obituary of Ellis Hunter 79 of El Paso Texas

Ellis Hunter 79 died in El Paso after a long illness. A native of Alma New Mexico he lived in Grant County 44 years. He was a former contractor and general manager of Strong and Harris Trucking Co. Survived by daughter Mrs. Margaret Blancett Bayard and son Ray K. Hunter Las Cruces seven grandchildren two great grandchildren and brother Arthur B. Hunter of Arizona. Confrontation Over Parking Fines Enters Local Court

FARMINGTON AP A municipal judge says citizens harass the court as a woman is fined 50 dollars for refusing to pay a five dollar parking ticket until federal legal tender is issued. Malinda L Gooding of Artee challenged jurisdiction with a constitutional money argument. A realtor’s similar card led to a dismissal for a separate case. The judge warned of violations and noted the city must meet fines and possible jail terms.

St Vincent Hospital Dedication in Santa Fe This Saturday

The new 234000 square foot St Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe with 235 beds is being dedicated. The project cost 20.3 million with 11.6 million financed by municipal bonds, 3.7 million via notes and 5 million from grants and donations. The old hospital will be evacuated in July and patients moved by ambulance to the St Michael's Drive campus.

Richardson hired as temporary medical services coordinator

Former Bernalillo County Sheriff Thomas Richardson was hired on a temporary basis as the county medical services coordinator for $15000 a year, a position created by the county commission. Richardson resigned as sheriff on April 15 for health reasons. the post was not advertised and no other applications were taken per rules for temporary hires. The La Raza Medical Association will hold its first convention at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine July 2-4.

The Department of Hospitals and Institutions invites bids to prepare the Master Plan for Mental Health Services in New Mexico with $55,000 available. Proposals are due in July 1977. Light Side Of Living Battle Creek Mystery Abduction Halted

William Kosimider, manager of a Battle Creek recreation area, phoned police after seeing four men in suits put a fifth man in a car trunk. A patrol car spotted the vehicle, and officers found an Eaton Corp. technician monitoring a test device in the trunk during a stop. A curious Cincinnati fountain offers a pay spray, with Abe Rankin, Marie Curie, and Nobel prize mentions in a quirky development near the Ohio River.
