Civil Rights Suit Alleges Police Abuses In New Mexico Enclave
A federal suit filed in Albuquerque by 12 people against the State Police and three officials claims confinement in a barbed wire enclosure after a Tierra Amarilla raid. Plaintiffs say no water except from an unfit sheep pond, 25 hours of detention, and lack of counsel. Damages sought $3,000 each. The case names State Police Chief Joe Black and others, cites house searches without warrants, and a 14 year old girl forced to use an outhouse in view of guards.
