Evadale schools report 400 students on Aug 26 1969 up from 370 the previous year as the district launches a four year 538000 construction program. Plans include a 600 seat auditorium welding shop science complex and expanded classrooms. Completion goals target spring 1971 for shops and science buildings with phased 1974 expansion. Funding comes from a 1 million bond approved November 18 1969.

A hearing set for 10 a.m. Friday will address a motion for judgement in Hardin County redistricting litigation. Judge Joe Fisher will decide if the Commissioners Court’s Aug 24 plan, effective Jan 1 1971, suffices to dismiss the suit by the Silsbee group led by Earl Stover and Lee Ratliff. Houston Couple Killed In Collision
Funeral services were held for Mr Richard Brown and Mrs Kathryn Brown at St Christabel Episcopal Church in Houston. The young couple, ages 22 and 21, died in a two car crash sixteen miles north of Houston while en route to College Station where Brown would attend Texas A and M. They had been married four days. Mrs Brown was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Paul Trench of Houston.
