Raid Nets Ten Local Men In Tin Top Gambling Bust
A Silsbee area sheriffs raid on the Tin Top club on Fresenius Road netted ten local men Saturday morning on gambling charges. L. J. Young and Preston Moore were charged with permitting habitual gambling, eight others fined $60 by Judge Rex Moore. several others named with addresses. The raid followed surveillance since July 4 and reports of crooked dice, cutting, and theft in games of chance. Sheriff Tom Easley and Deputies Smith and Eaton conducted the operation.

Kountze Man Charged In Beaumont Robbery
Wilson Jack Frouge Jr., 34, of Kountze, is held in Jefferson County Jail on 3500 bond after being charged with the Tuesday hold up of K and R Variety Store in Beaumont. Detective Captain Corder said the owner Juliette Rosinger was held at knife point and about $40 was taken. Frouge reportedly slashed his wrists after arrest but injuries were not serious.
