Hardin County Commissioners oppose Amendments 2 3 and 7

Hardin County Commissioners voted unanimously to oppose Amendments 2 3 and 7 and agreed to meet with county judges on November 4 to canvass and certify ballots from the November 3 general election. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. and includes discussion of redistricting plans and voting machine logistics.

Hause Infant Son Dies In Conroe

Cecil Thomas Hause II, six weeks old son of Mr and Mrs Stephen Hause of Conroe, died October 24 and was buried October 26 at Conroe Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Rigby officiating. He was the great grandson of Mr and Mrs B Williamson of Silsbee.

Last Rites For R. D. Bob Daniels Held Here On Oct. 24

Robert David Daniels 77 of Silsbee died Oct. 22 after a stroke. Funeral services were held Oct. 24 at Farmer Funeral Home with Rev. R. E. Barclay and Rev. C. B. Bass officiating. Interment followed at Grimes Cemetery near Colmesneil. Daniels, a WWI veteran and former timber contractor, leaves a daughter, four sons, a brother, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Rayford Birdwell, Lenox Hawthorne, Jack Coody, Elmo DuBose, James R. Walker, and Lee Kelly.

J M Bowman of Lumberton announced October 27 that he will seek re election as write in candidate for Hardin County Justice Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace against Ray Martin in the November 3 general election. Bowman, incumbent Pct Justice, was defeated by two votes in the Democratic primary. He served 15 years as Pet Justice and has lived in Lumberton 24 years with his wife Gladys.

Constable McKinney Indicted by Tyler Grand Jury

Constable Albert McKinney of Hardin County Precinct Five was indicted October 26 by the Tyler County Grand Jury on a felony theft charge. The accusation stems from a complaint filed by Aimuel Lee Gore of Silsbee charging the theft of a table saw and axle wheels from the old Sheffield place in Tyler County. A $1,000 bond was set for McKinney.

Citizens Committee Sets Meetings Over Voting Machines

The Citizens Committee for United Hardin County will meet tonight at 7 at Pieteher Emanuel Baptist Church Lumberton to instruct on voting machine use for Tuesday's balloting. A second session is planned Sunday at 3 pm at First Presbyterian Church Silsbee to explain voting machine use.

Hardin County residents may receive free diptheria immunizations Friday Oct 30 at the Courthouse in Kountze from 10 a m to 7 p m. McNeely Launches Write-In Bid for Hardin County Post

Jay H. McNeely of Kountze announced on October 22 a write-in campaign for Hardin County Commissioner in Precinct Two against incumbent Howard Barrington. A former Yange County Commissioner (1959–1963) he cites 32 years with Boilermakers Local 587 in Orange and vows full-time service if elected, aiming to unite Hardin County. He and his wife Cleora are Baptists.
