Old Timers Meet in Silsbee on Homecoming Weekend
Silsbee Old Timers schedule their annual gathering for Sunday October 18 at 10 30 a m in the O Neil Intermediate School cafeteria. Noon meals begin at 12 30 with plates priced at 1 50. Postmaster General Awards Silsbee Main Post Office Contract
Postmaster General Winton M. Blount announces a contract to build a new Silsbee main post office. John W. Jennings of Houston will own and lease the $242,000 facility for 20 years with renewal options to 30. Four Area Youths No-Billed on Burglary Charge
Four area youths charged in a Beaumont burglary were no-billed by the Jefferson County Grand Jury on Thursday. The names are Billy Lumer Sherman 17 Ronald Wayne Bayless 18 both of Route 3 Silsbee William Henry Thurston III 17 Route 3 Lumberton and Wendell Ray Rutledge 17 of Voth. They were accused of the Sept 5 burglary of the Stedman Co warehouse at 6600 Oakcrest where about 20 cases of liquor were stolen from a box car. The meeting was the first for the new grand jury empaneled Monday by Judge George Taylor.
