McGowan Undergoes Open Heart Surgery in Dallas
Kelly D. McGowan underwent open heart surgery Tuesday at St. Pauls Hospital in Dallas. His mother Irene McGowan reported he will need 15 to 20 pints of blood and blood donations are welcome at the Beaumont Blood Center. McGowan is a Silsbee native and Silsbee High School graduate.

Two Missing Boys Found By Trio Of Searchers Sunday
Baton Rouge youths Fred and Rodney Cassidy ages 13 and 12 were reported missing from their father's Beech Creek deer camp around 9 20 p m on November 22. They were located about an hour later by searchers R V Cravey Clyde Buckner and James C Ferguson at the Beech Creek Hunting Club lands and returned to their parents. Hardin County Sheriff Billy E Paine thanked Civil Air Patrol volunteers and local fire departments for aiding in the search.

Overland Jr. Injured In One-Car Crash Sunday Night
A. W. Overland Jr., 51, of Silsbee, remained in intensive care at St. Elizabeth Hospital Beaumont after a four-hour facial surgery for injuries from a one-car crash near the Pine Island Bayou bridge. The Santa Fe engineer suffered multiple jaw fractures and facial trauma after his car left the road around 11:37 p.m. Sunday. a tracheotomy was performed to aid breathing. His uncle said he was in good condition with no internal injuries and expected to recover if no complications arise.
