In Kountze four men Max Robertson J C Chesshire Jimmy Burroughs and Miller Burroughs were charged with aggravated assault after an altercation with two Black men Saturday night. One victim reportedly injured with a chain while the suspects were released on bond. A total of 13 arrests were reported at the county jail.

Mrs Helen Hinckley 49 of Fletcher died Sunday night in St Therese hospital Beaumont after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at All Souls Catholic church with Rev Micey Rodick officiating. Burial in Resthaven cemetery. Survived by husband Joseph A Hinckley of Fletcher a son John J Hinckley and daughter Mrs Barbara Landers of Silsbee and three grandchildren. Pallbearers listed. He formerly worked about 45 years as a timber inspector for Southwestern Settlement and Development Company. The Silshee Garden Club gathered Tuesday at Cravens Hall First Methodist Church with 17 members and two guests. Hosts were Mrs. H. Fuller and Mrs. S. T. Walker. The program on flower show preparation included arranging, horticultural exhibits, and rules for the November 25 show from 4 to 6 pm with the theme Holiday Melodies. Mrs. W. L. Armstrong resigned.
