Hardin county produced about 1200 votes from a 6000 strength as Democrats dominated the tally in state and national races. Shoplifter Nabbed At Neches Minimax In Silsbee
A man who tried to steal two pounds of bacon from Neches Minimax in Silsbee was jailed in Hardin County after an arrest by Police Chief Grads Tarver. He gave the name Norman Davis but was found to be Norman McNally, a drifting man. He was fined 5 dollars and costs totaling 27.50 and could not pay, remaining in jail.

A week in the county jail saw 15 inmates with two brought before the county judge on three charges. James Brown paid $100 and costs for carrying a pistol on Oct 31. The Silsbee Tiger junior high team closes its 1958 season with a Thursday trip to Victor. Last week the A and B teams tied Port Neches junior high 8-8 and 0-0 respectively. Nicky Gilbert scored the A teams only touchdown before a nullified penalty, while Randy Read ran in the two point conversion. The B game starts at 6 pm and the A game at 7:30.

Two Road Projects Slated For Hardin County Plan
W E Simmons district engineer at Beaumont notes two Farm to Market roads in Hardin County are slated for state two year road program funding. FM 418 near Silsbee will be reconstructed at an estimated 60000 dollars pending feasible design. A second FM road from FM 2458 end to Polk county line about 4.5 miles will require county right of way and costs about 140000 dollars with state maintenance after completion. County must accept order within 90 days or cancel.
