Silsbee ISD trustees meet July 8 to discuss a state reimbursed contract with the Texas Education Agency enabling students to attend state approved special schools. Burglars Steal Rings and Items From Silsbee Home
Marie Curtis of 273 West Avenue N reported a daytime break in on July 1. Burglars took two rings worth 60 dollars a .22 caliber pistol a coin collection and three or four prescription bottles. Patrolman Ed Thedford said entry was gained by breaking a chain lock while the occupant was away.

Local Library To Receive 150 Books From State Library
The Silsbee Public Library will receive 150 volumes on permanent loan from the Texas State Library Extension Loan Collection. Librarian Mrs H. T. Horka said the State Library frequently makes such loans to public libraries and noted the 150 volumes due this month will interest young people.

Houstonian Is Charged With Drug Possession
A Houston man, James Lee Ellis, 31, was arrested in Silsbee after a patrol stop at about 12:30 a.m. July 4. Authorities found drugs, a 9mm pistol, burglary tools, and owner’s credit cards in Ellis’ 1968 Chevrolet. Ellis is jailed in Hardin County on bonds related to unlawful possession of dangerous drugs and other charges.

Two Sunday crashes injure four in Silsbee
Silsbee Police reported two auto accidents Sunday leaving four people with minor injuries. Ernest Spell 44 and Jacqueline Sims 25 were treated at Silsbee Doctors Hospital after a collision at FM 418 and FM 92 involving a 1963 Buick driven by Spell and a 1968 Plymouth driven by Allen Scott 48. The Plymouth was destroyed and Scott cited for failure to yield.

Cary McAdams Dies in Drilling Accident
Funeral services for Cary Leon McAdams 44 of Conroe were held at Metcalf Chapel with Rev. Jess Bigbee officiating. Burial followed at Garden Park Cemetery. He was accidentally killed July 4 while working on an oil rig for Butler Drilling Co in Freeport. A native of Coldspring he lived in Conroe and was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife three sons one daughter parents six brothers including Billy and one sister.
