Six Snake Bites Draw Warning in Silsbee June
Six snakebite cases were treated at Silsbee Doctor's Hospital since June 1, including four or five by Dr. Tennison and two by Dr. Wilde. A hospital maintainer burned three snakes in June, including a water moccasin, a ground rattler, and a rattlesnake pilot. Two brown recluse spider bites were also treated in June with antivenin now available.

Firemen battle hay blaze near Silsbee
Five fire-fighting units, three from Silsbee and two from Chance-Loeb, fought an undetermined origin hay barn fire on Hanna Live stock Co. property three miles south of Silsbee at 3 50 p m June 28. Chief John Busby said the fire was controlled with minimal roof damage, but two Silsbee units returned Monday afternoon when flames flared again.

Youth 14 Charged In Shooting Of 16 Year Old
A 16 year old youth was wounded in the left forearm by a .22 derringer in Silsbee. A 14 year old boy was charged with assault with intent to murder after a Sunday night confrontation on or near Highway 327 between 14th and 15th Streets. The wounded youth was treated at local hospital and released. The suspect was referred to Hardin County juvenile authorities in Kountze.

Transmission Stolen From Bellenger Shop In Silsbee
George Bellenger, a Silsbee water well contractor, reported a man in a black Chevrolet pickup stole a four speed transmission from his South Seventh Street shop. Bellenger saw the part in a bush June 28 and watched it until a black old model Chevrolet took it away. Police noted the truck’s license number. The transmission has since been recovered and charges are pending.

Six firearms valued at about 373 dollars were stolen from Bobby Joe Biggs of 214 Marshall Lane. Police said James Martin received a call at 9 47 p m Thursday and found the guns missing when he arrived.
