Michael Wayne Shuff a 21 year old of Silsbee was riding a 1970 Yamaha on Kirby Elementary School grounds about 4 30 p m Saturday when the throttle hung up causing a collision with a flag pole He was taken to Silsbee Doctors Hospital with a leg fracture and later moved to St Elizabeth Hospital where his condition was listed as fair on December 7.

A Gray Dies From Gun Blast
Arthur Lee Gray, 60, of Route One Box 704, died at Silsbee Doctors Hospital after being shot in the abdomen by a 12 gauge shotgun. Sheriff Paine said the coroner’s inquest ruled gunshot death and the case was under investigation with a grand jury to consider on December 21. funeral services were pending at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.

Final Rites For George Bomer at Houston Funeral Home
Funeral services for George Bomer 94 were held November 27 at Earthman Funeral Home in Houston with burial in Forest Park Cemetery. He died in his sleep November 24 at Moody House in Galveston where he lived the last nine years. A Missouri native, he resided in Texas over 40 years and belonged to Genoa Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons Marvin and Harrison Bomer of Silsbee and Glenn Bomer of Dayton and a daughter Audrey Billings of Houston.

Woman Alleges Police Beat Son in Silsbee Incident
At a Dec. 8 Silsbee City Council meeting Hazel Jenkins alleged police Detective Morris Cole and another officer beat her 19 year old son Lonnie Holman on November 21 after attempting to question him. Jenkins said Holman was found swollen and later treated by Dr Horacio R Suarez at Wilde Clinic. The council ordered an immediate inquiry by City Manager Ronald M Hickerson to determine if a full investigation is warranted.

Beginning Monday December 14 residents of Silsbee and Kountze must dial all seven digits for local calls. The change prepares for Extended Area Service between the two cities, which will let about 4700 customers dial each other toll free on local lines. If five digits are dialed, a quick busy signal will occur until the new system goes live in spring 1971.

Argument Ends With One Dead in Texas Shooting
An argument reportedly over a debt ended in a fatal shooting near the Neches Club on US 96 east of Silsbee.
