Silsbee police investigated four burglaries over Aug 15 to Aug 17. Dan's Drive In reported a back window shattered by a bottle with cash missing. Other sites affected were Bottle Shop, Jack's Laundry, and Ruggles Cash Store, with small amounts stolen and entry via door or window damage.

Theft Charges Filed By Owner Of Borrowed Truck

Two youths told Overstreet they just borrowed a pickup owned by Dorman Grusin of Honey Island. The owner pressed auto theft charges Sunday Aug 16. Ellis Milam Sparks Jr. 22 of Sour Lake and Darrell Milton Harmon 19 of Baytown jailed about 11 p.m. Bonds set at 2500 each. They posted bond Monday and were released.

Beaumont Youth Charged In Pine Plaza Burglaries

Beaumont youth Mark Lance Franklin, 19, of 1635 Walden St., charged with three counts of burglary for Jan 14 burglaries at Morris Pharmacy, Dr. F P Kirkpatrick’s dental office, and the Bottle Shop in Pine Plaza. Bond set at 30,000 per count. Suspected accomplice in state penitentiary serving term. Franklin, held in Chambers County on safe burglary charge, was arrested Sunday by joint law enforcement effort.

Final Rites Held For Mrs Willie Bell Gore 41

Funeral services were held for Mrs Willie Bell Gore 41 of Silsbee at Caney Head Assembly of God Church with Rev W G McNaughten and Rev B Simmons. Burial followed at Cunningham Cemetery. She died at 10 10 am Sunday in Silsbee Doctors Hospital after a lengthy illness. Surviving are her husband Sam Gore seven sons and five daughters all of Silsbee. Her parents brothers and sisters are named Weeks Wilburn and Puckett residents of nearby towns. Pallbearers included Gore Crawford and other Gore family members.

Drowning Near Dam Ends Clarence Bakers Fishing Trip

Clarence W. Saker, 44, of Kountze, drowned at 2 p m Thursday Aug 13 while fishing near Old Town Bluff Ferry below Dam B. His body was recovered at 3 15 p m by U S Army Corps divers. An inquest by Woodville Justice of the Peace ruled accidental drowning. Survivor list includes two sisters and a brother. Funeral rites pending transfer to Altus Oklahoma.

Silsbee High announces schedule pickup date and locations

High School Principal Weeks Crawford says all Silsbee High students must pick up fall 1970 class schedules Thursday August 27 from 8 am to 1 pm. Seniors go to the front lobby juniors to the south main corridor sophomores to east corridor A and freshmen to east corridor C. Classes begin August 31.

Grand Jury returns 13 true bills in Hardin County session

Hardin County Grand Jury reports 13 true bills and five no bills from its August 17 session. Indictments include theft, DWI second offense, robbery by assault, burglary with intent to commit theft, hot check, and sodomy. Five cases were no-billed. most indictees have been arrested, with one warrant pending. The report also notes local travels of James M. Dear and family after a son's boot camp graduation.
