Dan's Drive In Grocery owner Dan Herron reported a burglary over the weekend with a theft of 15 to 20 dollars in silver from a cash box. Police said entry was gained by breaking an east side window and the exact time is unknown. The call came in around 5 30 a m Aug 10.

Two men died of coronary thrombosis in Silsbee on Monday. Raymond Jackson, 39, of 575 S 11th, and Thomas Scott Hardaway, 66, of 550 Roosevelt Drive, were pronounced at Silsbee Doctors Hospital. Funeral plans for Hardaway set at Shepherd Cemetery. Jackson's services pending.

Library Fund Raising Drive Reaches Sixty Six Percent
The Silsbee Public Library expansion of 18 253 dollars began in May and about 66 percent of the goal is raised. The 48 by 64 foot edition to the library is completed and renovation of the original building nears completion. Two Houston Men Held For Numerous Hot Check Charges
Two Houston men Andrew Richardson and Willie K. Johnson are jailed in Hardin County on multiple hot check and related charges. Richardson faces six counts of felony hot check in Harris County plus forgery theft in Natchitoches and other counts in Jefferson County. Johnson is held for Hardin County felony theft by hot check and questioned by other agencies. They were arrested in Woodville on August eight and brought to Kountze. Richardson bonds at six thousand dollars while Johnson has no bond set at presstime.

Auto-Truck Crash Causes $1,400 Damage At Silsbee
At 7:35 a.m. Tuesday at FM 418 and Prewitt Street a rear collision between a 1968 Thunderbird driven by William Thomas Evans 51 and a 1968 Dodge pickup driven by Gary Edwards Mathis injured Mathis and caused $1,400 in damage. Evans's car sustained $800 damage and the truck $600. Mathis was cited for failure to control speed.
