Gilbert Bohannon of Matthews an employee of the Gemeinhardt Grain Elevator Company was seriously injured yesterday afternoon about 2:00 at work when machinery struck his face causing severe jaw and facial injuries. He was treated at Sikeston General Hospital with initial conditions listed as critical then reported as fair. Also noted is the birth of a daughter to Doyle Price and his wife in Munich Germany at 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the parents being Mrs. and Mrs. E. F. Schorle.

County Draft Board Receives Two Calls
Scott County Selective Service Board received two calls totaling 23 men to report for physical examinations. Eight men are ordered to Benton on November 1 and 15 to report November 12. Inductees will be examined at Cape Girardeau Joint Examining and Induction Station and then sent to camps. This is Scott County’s second call under the new draft law, following a 10 man call.
