Belgiums political shift pins hopes on Social Christian bloc
In Brussels and across Belgium the balance of power leans to the Social Christian party as Achieve Van Acker leads a coalition that has slowed Socialist expansion. A liberal-conservative viewpoint describes the government’s tax burden, welfare state costs, and private industry gains amid postwar uncertainty. Industrial workers in Verviers earn about 110 dollars monthly with similar pay for their wives, while overall wages range from 80 to 130 dollars for workers and clerks and 130 to 129 dollars for officials.
