Holdup Victim Identifies Two Suspects
Edward Lee Walker of Sikeston identified Jim Corn and Joe Morgan as two men held in Stoddard county who assaulted him during a robbery. Walker, a mechanic, hitchhiked north of Malden and was abducted with two others in an old pickup, later beaten and left with injuries. Corn has prior prison terms for theft and other offenses.

Mrs Kathleen Payne 32 of Sikeston was killed when her husband Edward Payne 37 driving a Dodge sedan failed to stop at a junction east of Canaloa and collided with a car driven by Joe Thomas 25 of Osceola Arkansas. William Padgett Dies in Blythe Calif Funeral Held
William Padgett a former Mississippi resident died at his Blythe California home last Wednesday. His body was moved to Numnelee Funeral Home and funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. A B Cooper officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery. Born April 16 1886 in Kansas he was the son of the late Mr and Mrs George Washington Padgett. He is survived by wife Myrtle, one son Walter of St Louis two daughters Clara Wiggins of St Louis and Florence Elrod of Paducah Ky four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Charles Edward Raper farmer of the Sikeston area were held at Nunneitee Funeral Chapel with Rev. Cecil Ring officiating. Interment followed in Garden of Memories. Raper died Saturday night at 20 minutes past at Della Community Hospital after three weeks as a patient and six months of declining health. He was born September 15, 1921 in Borace County, Texas, son of Otis and Sarah Hall Raper. Survivors include his mother Mrs. Sarah Raper, a brother Bord Raper of Bertrand, and three sisters Mrs. Rebel Kelso of Matthews, Mrs. Belle Littleton of Bertrand, and Miss Martha Raper of Memphis.
