Funeral Sunday for Mrs Margaret Meier
Funeral services will be held Sunday at the Welsh Caves for Mrs Margaret Johns Meier of Holliswood California who died Monday at the Presbyterian Hospital. The Rev J D Owen will conduct the rites and burial at Memorial Park cemetery. Mrs Meier was born in Nutiawae, Kansas, daughter of Lemuel E and Mary Johns. She lived in California for several years. Survivors include brother Marry Jones and sister Mrs Goldie Mexers of St Louis and half sister Mrs Mary Pylanc of Gideon. Her body was due to arrive in Sikeston Friday before state at the Welsh Funeral Home.

In Cape Girardeau Missouri the government rested its case against Arthur Cleburn Silas a Piggott Arkansas man charged with a $34 666 bank robbery in December 1955. Twenty eight witnesses testified over two days before the defense opened. A green station wagon linked to the robbery was sighted on roads toward Arkansas and FBI agent Lidall Shanefield described tire examinations and tire mark plaster impressions the government alleges came from the wagon.

Wet Pavement Crash Near Portageville Kills Three
A wet highway near Portageville on Highway 61 caused a Greyhound bus to skid into a southbound car, killing an unidentified woman and two children and injuring others. Vernon Randolph of West Memphis drove the bus, and the car occupant, possibly Frank Araujo Jr of Great Falls Montana, is hospitalized in critical condition. Authorities say the incident is under three investigations with Greyhound and local police coordinating.
