International Shoe Company announces wage raises averaging 12 percent for about 30 000 employees in over 50 cities across eight states effective December 3. Union CIO Local 123A spokesman Henry Bartholomew says the contract includes 8 cents per hour day workers 13 cents per hundred for piece workers a 12 1/2 cent hourly average with minimums of 50 cents per hour for piece workers and 55 cents for daily workers after six months. The company notes shoe prices remain frozen at 1942 levels.
The Delmo Homes projects in Southeast Missouri, built by the government, were sold by the Farm Security Administration to the Delmo Housing Corporation of St. Louis for 285000 dollars. Nine of ten colonies are included. the South Wyatt Project was sold separately. The buyers plan to resell at about 800 dollars per house with 100 dollar down and monthly payments of 7.50 dollars, including furnishings and half acre plots.

The Henry Meldrum Post of the American Legion invites all service men and exservice men to a fried chicken dinner at Sikeston Armory at 7 o clock Thursday night November 29. The post now exceeds 350 members this year and aims to reach double last year’s total. Commander Herb Walton extends the invitation.
