Funeral for Loretta Rogers 6 Killed in Sikeston Car Crash
Funeral services for Loretta Rogers six year old of Sikeston were held at the East Gladys street residence with Rev Earl Fisher officiating. Interment was in Carpenter cemetery. Loretta died after being struck by a pickup driven by Hubert Keasler of Sikeston on Highway 61 near its intersection with Highway 60 as she crossed the road returning home from school. She was a first grade pupil at Bailey school in Miss Lillian Putnam's class. Witnesses said Keasler could not avoid the collision and stopped shortly after. Loretta sustained a fractured neck and other injuries and was pronounced dead at Dr H M Kendig's office. She was born April 24 1932 and is survived by parents two sisters Jacquita Clovine and Chalen and a brother. Keasler and his three children were en route to Cape Girardeau to visit his wife and newborn son at St. Francis Hospital.

Buddies Meet First Time In Twenty Years
J Droome of Sikeston and Fred Smith of Poplar Bluff met for the first time in twenty years at the Poplar Bluff airport on Sunday. They had met at Jefferson Barracks in 1918 then served in the Third Field Artillery overseas until discharge in July 1919. Droome is a native of Jackson Mississippi.

Negro Girls Facing Hearing Over Diamond Ring Theft
Two African American girls, Rosalie Thomas and Lillian Anderson, are charged with stealing a diamond ring from Miss Maribel Hostler. The P T A lunchroom for undernourished school children will reopen Tuesday November 15 for a second season. A committee appointed by president Mrs G W Fowler will oversee the lunchroom. World cotton supply hits record high at 51 million bales
