Planning to Rebuild after Grant City Fire
J Ray Smith of Malden owner of the Grant City structure destroyed by fire last Sunday night plans to rebuild once an insurance adjustment is made. The loss is about 320000 and the building housed a restaurant run by Mr and Mrs W W Wood and a Simpson Oil Co motor service station. The fire started in the furnace or wash room around 8 30 p m and nearly all was lost. Four East Texas Freight Lines drivers sleeping on the second floor drove their trucks to safety after waking. Nearby McMullin Gin Co buildings were not damaged.

Jaycees Plan to Open Swimming Pool
Bil Greer and J D Schwab were named at the Junior Chamber of Commerce meeting as managers for the pool this summer. Bill Bess reported only necessary repairs would be made and bids of 1500 were rejected. Members were asked to donate time for cleaning and repainting the pool building. Vacation School Plans Discussed at Sikeston Conference
Between 20 and 25 leaders from Sikeston churches attended a vacation church school conference at Tanner Street Church of God on Tuesday.
