About 150 cattle men are expected to join the dinner and discuss feeding and management based on a recent 10 000 cattle feeder survey. John A. Benton Youth Drowns in Pool
Arnold Loflin, 17, Benton high school student, drowned in a 120 foot by 120 foot drought reservoir on the Tom Scott farm near Benton. He began to struggle one third of the way across and sank after signaling he could not finish. Rescuers failed and his body was recovered about 4:30 pm. The reservoir, built by the Works Progress Administration, was full from recent rains. Coroner Nunnelee viewed the scene. no formal inquest planned. Funeral arrangements pending.

Betty Jane Cummins and Mary Elizabeth Wagner were named Sikeston's representatives to the Girls' State encampment at William Woods College Fulton the week of July 14 to 21. They were chosen for leadership and other qualities at the American Legion Auxiliary meeting May 7. Mrs. R. L. Proffer assisted. C L Malone is state VP and Kathryn Johnson secretary. Both will attend and serve as counselors to about 200 girl delegates from across Missouri.

Sikeston Boy Scout Troop 42 joined 1000 scouts in Cape Girardeau for the annual Boy Scout Circus.
