Farmers to Receive 1950 Census of Agriculture Forms by Mail
Between March 22 and March 27, copies of the 1950 census of agriculture questionnaire will be mailed to all farmers in the district, said Lloyd Poe census district supervisor. Farmers should complete the form by early April to assist census takers who begin visits on April 1.

Heart attack fatal for former Sikeston man Ernest Arterburn
Ernest Arterburn 56, of Denver Colorado, formerly Sikeston, died of a heart attack at his home Monday night. Funeral services were held in Denver. He was brother of Mrs C W Limbaugh and brother-in-law of Mrs Byron Bowman of Sikeston. relatives from Sikeston attended. Private First Class Thomas J Hughes, son of Dennis and Denise Hughes Morley Missouri, passed his gunner's test on the 4.2 inch mortar with Heavy Mortar Company, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, earning expert gunner status.

Man Breaks Neck In Fall From Wagon
Gene Gunn 28, a Portageville farm worker, broke his neck Tuesday afternoon when he fell from a hay load on a farm near Portageville. He received emergency hospital care and was later moved to a Memphis Veterans hospital. Also noted is the stable condition of Patricia Holland, one year old, after kerosene ingestion. Sikeston man Barney Woods received six months in county jail after pleading guilty to non-support in Judge M. E. Montgomery's magistrate court. Two other cases were continued, including Ira Gill accused of raping a 12 year old Negro girl Pricella Reese and Jessie Mason charged with a felony. Paroles were granted to James Stone and William Porter after court consideration.

About 1400 senior students gathered at the Sikeston high school yesterday for the fourth annual guidance conference of the Southeast Missouri District Teachers Association. The event featured talks by Dean Curtis L. Wilson and Dr. Frank L. Eversall, with afternoon group discussions led by field leaders. Lunches served by the Home Economics Department included 352 meals during the 30 minute noon break. 65 administrators joined a Lions Club luncheon.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Morehouse for James W Owings aged 89. Officiated by Rev. Anderson and Rev. A Co Sullivant, with interment in Memorial Park cemetery. Owings died at his Morehouse home at 7 00 a m yesterday. survived by wife Mary, two sons Guy W and Virgil, six grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
