Fake Veterinarian to Face Trial Saturday in Missouri
New Madrid Missouri March 10 John Davis of Arkansas and Ted Moore of Kennett will stand trial in circuit court on March 14 for poisoning livestock to collect fees for veterinary treatment. Sheriff Sam Harris says confessions from both men and two witness women were obtained. Davis seeks custody from Arkansas to serve life sentence, with several other counties seeking him. Losses to farmers in ten counties total about 25000 dollars as the pair allegedly injected turpentine or formalin into animals, then billed for cures, with most animals dying.

Young Business Group to Attend State Meet

Plans for beautifying the park around the Missouri Pacific Station were made using WPA labor, including planting small trees and shrubs with Woehlecke of Sikeston Greenhouse assisting, and there was discussion of Southeast Missouri Telephone Company building plans in Sikeston this year. The group, totaling 20 members, also sourced trees from local farmers and set plans for park improvement.

Sikeston Kiwanis Club held Farmers Night at its regular meeting in Hotel Marshall. President George Kirk led the session which featured talks by John T. Tragedy Near Bloomfield Claims Two Lives
Miss Millicent James and Bert Brannock died from pistol shots in a Bloomfield area car case. Brannock, a World War veteran and son of a former state representative, allegedly shot Brannock after a marriage proposal dispute. Miss Jamar, a Bloomfield stenographer, was seated beside Brannock. An inquest found both deaths instantaneous with the gun between Brannock’s feet. Funeral services were held in Bloomfield for Brannock and Miss Jamar. Both families have longtime roots in Stoddard county.

Kelso Doctor Gets Two Year Prison Term for Manslaughter
Kelso physician Dr A J Decker was sentenced to two years in the Missouri State Penitentiary by Judge Frank Kelly after a Benton court found him guilty of manslaughter in connection with an illegal operation that caused the death of Dolores Alberta McMullen of Fornfelt last April 24. Other docket items included Buck Carter receiving four and five year terms for burglary larceny and robbery respectively, Buck Oliver and Jake Hart each two years for burglary and larceny, Harold Lynn two years for larceny, and several cases reset or dismissed.

Sikeston Woman Dies of Pneumonia at 53
Mrs. Katie Johnson aged 53 died of pneumonia at her Sikeston home after a four day illness. She had been in ill health for years. Funeral services were held at her daughter's home on Murray Lane, and interment followed at Carpenter Cemetery. She is survived by her husband J W Johnson a daughter Mrs Edward Kindred a son Joe Stacy and a half brother Walter Beavers plus two grandchildren.
