Diehlstadt Farmer Fatally Injured
William Walter Norman, 58, a Diehlstadt farmer for three years, was fatally injured when run over by a gravel truck driven by his son Paul as he attempted to alight while the truck moved. The overhanging bed crushed him, severing the right femoral artery. Coroner H. J. Welsh ruled accidental death. Burial in Clinton, Kentucky, with widow Ann Norman and son Paul Norman surviving.

Two Fire Alarms Reported Tuesday Night No Damage
The local fire department answered two alarms Tuesday night with no serious outcome. A grass fire behind Mrs. J. E. Marshalls North Kingshighway home was quickly extinguished at five PM, causing no damage. An E. J. Goldman St. Louis car parked at the Del Rey Motel caught fire around seven PM, likely from a cigarette, leaving only a burned seat hole.

A large crowd of townspeople and students attended the Monday evening concert at the school gym. Directed by Reid Jann the orchestra and Mrs Geraldine Young the robed choir and mixed quartet performed selections from madrigals, spirituals, and light classical pieces. Chicken Thieves Reported Busy Tuesday Night
Sheriff Joe Anderson said a chicken thief or thieves operated in Scott county Tuesday night. Seven hens were stolen from Jim Shuffit and seven from Mrs J H Hayden at Sikeston, with thirteen more hens stolen in the county's northern part. No clues yet to the thief's identity.

Council Adopts New Ordinances
The city council passed three ordinances at the March meeting including pay changes for the police judge and new city election dates. The judge will earn $3 per guilty plea plus various fees, to be paid by defendants. Other actions authorize checks for street funds, parking and sidewalk rules, and lighting for softball games. Two Negro Children Die In Rural Cabin Fire
Two young children of Lu cille Grey perished as their one room cabin on Gladys street burned Friday morning. Phillip age two and his infant brother Baby perished in the blaze, Willie aged four survived. Firemen noted a laundry stove as a possible heat source. Funeral services were held Saturday at Sunset Cemetery with Welsh rites.

Miss Edna Earle Gastineau of Ellington and R. E. Patterson of Sikeston were married Sunday afternoon March 1 at the First Christian church of Poplar Bluff with Rev. Wilkinson officiating. They will reside in the Sexton apartments on Front Street where Mrs. Patterson will open a beauty parlor within a month. Mrs. Patterson is a St. Louis beauty school graduate and has run a Perryville parlor for two years. Mr. Patterson has worked as undertaker at Dempster Furniture and Undertaking Parlors for the past year.

Two Sikeston youths die in Highway 25 crash
Two Sikeston youths Homer Bates and Robert Jackson died after a head on collision with a southbound car near Dexter on Highway 25. Miss Mary Smith and Cecil Wallace were slightly injured. Bates and Jackson were 23 and 22, both employed at the International Shoe Company plant in Sikeston. Miss Smith rode with John Pendergast. Wallace was with Bates in the Chevrolet. Bates died en route, Jackson at a Dexter doctor’s office. Coroner absolved Pendergast of blame. Funeral services followed for Bates and Jackson at local churches with burial in Memorial Park cemetery. Survivors include Bates’s widow Nellie T errell and family. Jackson’s mother Mrs Casper Taylor and several half-siblings.
