Missouri Legislature Breaks for Summer Recess
After a six month session the Missouri Legislature adjourned for summer without passing many measures. Appropriations exceed 500 million dollars while key reforms such as broader social security and labor law changes stalled. The session did approve a bi state bridge plan with Tennessee and other measures, but left 300 revision bills for fall action and plans to reopen September 20 for the House and October 11 for the Senate.

Farm Bureau Board Opposes Brannan Plan
The American Farm Bureau Federation's Board of Directors voices strong opposition to Secretary Brannan's proposed farm plan. They warn it relies on uncertain government handouts, would be costly, risks high controls, and could depress farm prices while raising consumer costs. They call it untested and politically polarizing and pledge to pursue a market based solution with bipartisan support.
