A Canalou Missouri blaze began around 5 pm destroying three houses the Campbell Peterson and Beardsley homes. Firefighters from Morehouse arrived at 5 20 pm and saved the Jones residence nearby. Injuries to Robert Landers and losses of Campbell and Landers families are noted with total damage around 15000 dollars.

A 26 day holiday from highway deaths ended Sunday in Southeast Missouri as two motorists died from auto mishaps. Samuel David Brown 25 Gray Ridge died after injuries from an accident last Friday near Sikeston. Prentice E. Brown 26 Morley injured in same crash and admitted to hospital. Samuel Brown survived by wife Chloe and two children. Funeral services held in Sikeston. Separately Alvin Harmon 19 St Louis died when 1949 Ford crashed into a tractor trailer near Perryville. Harmon's wife and Doyle Payne injured. Truck driver John Thompson Peck of Philadelphia not injured.

Guthrie Shirley of Arkansas and Alma Jean Ashcraft pleaded guilty in a Missouri magistrate court to unlawfully living together in adultery. They had been living on East Gladys street in Sikeston. Ashcraft faced an additional charge of abandoning her four children ages 6 months to 8 years. She testified the kids stayed with her mother in East Prairie and she had been supporting them. Each received a 90 day jail term.
