Eugene Shelley a 45 year old Negro waived a preliminary hearing in Magistrate Court and was held for Circuit Court on a concealed weapon charge. Bond set at 500 dollars. Shelley to provide bond. Arrested Sunday at 2 pm by Chief Harold Wallace in Sunset addition with a loaded 32 caliber automatic pistol. He had been on expired parole from Missouri State Prison for alleged killing. Paroled to O L Daugherty Sikeston, worked five years, left last May. Daugherty called him a good worker. Also reports on Harold Barrick and M L Barrick theft case involving a traveling bag and clothing from Kent’s car in Tiptonville. Barrick could not post 500 bond, held for Circuit Court. Highway 25 Open to Traffic This Morning
M S Gwinn managing engineer for Division 10 of the Missouri Highway Department announced that Highway 25 from Blomeyer to Advance is open to traffic today. The section had been closed during recent months for new pavement construction and now runs the full length. The roadway now features a 20 foot wide asphaltic concrete surface replacing earlier concrete and gravel segments added in 1925 and 1927.

Negro Arrested Here Charged With Arson
Nevada Griffin a 27 year old Negro formerly of Chatfield Ark was arrested Tuesday in downtown Sikeston and jailed awaiting FBI arrival. Griffin sought for about four months on arson charges in the burning of a Negro home six miles from Hughes Ark. He had been living in Sunset addition and picking cotton this fall.
