Stanton Homer Myers a 9 year old retired traveling salesman known as Cyclone Myers died at 830 PM Saturday at Luc y Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff after months of illness. Born September 30 1886 in Mountville Pennsylvania he married Ida Denton November 25 1902. Survivors include his wife two sons Stanton J Myers at Fort Leonard Wood and Richard Myers Dexter. one grandson Richard Myers of Dexter. Funeral services were held Monday at First Presbyterian Church Poplar Bluff with burial in City Cemetery.
Selina Movell Gremore of Catron Missouri died en route to a St Louis hospital. She was born June 20 1926 in Marston Missouri. She leaves husband Harela Gremore a son Robert Joe and five daughters Shirkes Ann Jo Ann Man her mother and father Mr and Mrs Joe Inman of Portageville two sisters Zelma Gremore of Catron Doris Lane of Fayette and one brother Hovet Hemphill.
Patricia Gail White died shortly after birth at Delta Community Hospital. The infant is survived by her parents Jerre Warne White of Sikeston and the paternal grandparents Mr and Mrs Charles White and the maternal grandparents Mr and Mrs Jerome Loamay. Graveside services are set for tomorrow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Sikeston public schools showcase holiday spirit with nativity scene at the high school and decorative displays at Bailey center and South Grade. Students and PTA groups join in festive programs, with two trees at South Grade and handmade presents on display. All schools close Friday afternoon for Christmas and reopen Tuesday January 2, 1957.
Gid FE Daniel, longtime Sikeston resident and former city police officer born April 24 1884 in Kentucky, died at home at 200 South Naintgshigh. Survived by wife Jennie E. Daniel and two stepdaughters Jenalee Lambert and Kathleen Schuette. Funeral services held at Welsh Chapel with burial at City Cemetery.
Mrs. Cecil Mott of Cape Girardeau learns of the death of former Sikeston resident Mrs. Sam Harding and the serious condition of her husband Mr. Sam Harding. The couple was found by Mr. and Mrs. Mauriece Harding. Mr. Harding remains in a hospital in serious condition. Surviving Mrs. Harding are her son Mauriece, two grandchildren Charles Harding and Mrs. Glenn Miller, and one great grandchild, all of El Paso, Texas.
Ward E Bratton 45 a former Sikeston resident died of a heart attack while driving in Torrance California Saturday morning He is survived by wife Vida Bratton and daughter Marva Bratton of the home three sisters Mrs Charles Tisdel Mrs Verna Watson of Sikeston Mrs Floyd Rouse of St Louis and one brother W W Bratton of Columbia Services were held Wednesday afternoon in Torrance
Cape Girardeau sisters Beth Schine and Geraldine Schine headlined a sparkling Kiwanis program at the Dunn Hotel. The entertainment featured a guitar, pantomime, and singing, with Miss Beth Schine as presenter and Geraldine Schine as announcer. President Rev Warne Oasis praised the club’s cooperation and noted meetings would move to the following Wednesday after New Year's.
Lilbourn Thomas J. Gunter, 34, a construction engineer and World War II veteran, died Monday December 17 near Baton Rouge La from a automobile collision. He was born July 26 1922 at Arbord Mo. He is survived by his parents Mr and Mrs Thomas Gunter of Lilbourn a sister Mrs Avil Skipper of Flint Mich and several aunts uncles and other relatives.

Direct care for children under Child Welfare Services was 262.85. Old Age Assistance totals 70 320 from 1305 cases at 53.80 average. Dependent Children total 878 161 with 153 families and 422 children, average 75.69 per family and 27.44 per child. General Relief 27 cases at 5.10 per person, total 1 01. Disability 102 cases at 54.77 average, total 5 587. Blind 41 cases at 60 average, total 2 460. One Blind Pension case at 60.
