McMullin Man Killed by Auto
Burl Montgomery a 47 year old farmer from the McMullin community was killed when struck by an automobile driven by Murl Greenle a Skeston dairy worker while walking east of the Sikeston Cotton Oil Mill on Highway 60. An inquest found Greenle not to blame. Montgomery died at Sketon General Hospital after brief hospitalization. Funeral services were held and burial was at Blodgett cemetery with Welsh service. He had farmed near McMullin for years and was survived by his wife. Witnesses reported Montgomery walked in front of the car and the accident was unavoidable and that both men were under liquor influence.
