Lions Club Backs Sikeston Safety Drive
Lions Club members at the Palace Cafe met to plan the Sikeston safety campaign now under way. A committee including C Clarence Scott W A Anthony C L Blanton Jr and J E Harper will present ideas to the city council to reduce speeding on paved streets. The Junior Chamber of Commerce started the drive with Kiwanis support, and the club also plans its Christmas charity treat for underprivileged children, funded by a healthy treasury.

Jackson Jail Breaker Free Only Four Hours
Wm Faulkner, a convict from the State Penitentiary, escaped Cape Girardeau county jail in Jackson, was recaptured within four hours hiding under a porch near the jail. He and co defendant Fred English faced trial in Benton for a Sikeston Graber Store holdup and other charges. Faulkner’s escape happened as sheriff’s wife delivered breakfast to inmates.

Mrs Stahlburg Transported From Lilbourn To Phoenix After Break
Mrs Chas Stahlburg who broke her leg visiting relatives at Lilbourn was taken to Poplar Bluff Tuesday night in the Dempster ambulance and then sent home to Phoenix Arizona. Her son accompanied her on the trip.

Decorating Streets for Christmas Begins Friday
Sikeston plans holiday light decorations to brighten the business district for a third year. Work led by Charles H Moose will reuse much of last year’s materials with evergreen festoons replacing major portions.
