Field Day Boosts Drainage and Irrigation at McCord Farm
A New Madrid County field day showcased drainage upgrades, fertilization and soil testing at the McCord farm near Talapoosa. Attendees toured a new shed, irrigation wells, and planned 20 and 40 acre rotations to cut production costs and raise income. Extension staff highlighted cooperative landlord tenant agreements and dual cropping potential with grain sorghum, noting disease pressures in soybeans and the need for drying facilities.
