Southwestern Bell will add direct distance dialing as part of a 1.5 million dollar upgrade in Sikeston to be completed this winter. He was born August 23 1878 in Jackson Tennessee married Onie Backus June 17 1902 who died January 14 1917. He leaves a son William of St Louis and his daughter.s

Fire Chief L D Ramsey was knocked unconscious for hours after a 2300 volt line charged screen door at 311 N New Madrid St. He is in Missouri Delta Community Hospital in satisfactory condition. John McMullin was shocked but not seriously. Darrell Coots, lineman, was knocked from a ladder while working to cut the hot wire.

Matt Jungers aged 92, first resident of Fornfelt, died at 4 05 am Wednesday at a daughter's home in Fornfelt visiting. Born September 18 1865 in Alakanda Lt he moved to the site of Fornfelt in 1908 and remained a resident until death. Survivors include five daughters two sons twenty grandchildren thirty great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Burial will be in St Marys Cemetery in Cape Girardeau after services at St Josephs Church in Fornfelt.
