Sikeston Approves City Hospital Bond Issue
In an August 2 special election Sikeston voters approved a $20,000 bond issue to convert the Sutterfield residence at Gladys and New into a community hospital shared with the Missouri Institute of Aeronautics. $11,500 funds purchase, $3,000 for repairs, and $5,500 for equipment. Six residents opposed. 516 in favor. The site, chosen by local business and professionals, will house at least 20 rooms with six reserved for the air school.

More than 400 officers and enlisted men of Missouri 140th Infantry including Sikeston's Company K leave Cape Girardeau at four am Sunday August 4 bound for Camp Riley Minnesota to train for three weeks.
