Woman Killed By Bullet Fired At Dog in Charleston
Coroner's jury absolves Roy Chaney of Charleston of blame in the fatal shooting of Mrs Clara Noiseworthy. The death is ruled accidental after a bullet fired at a dog traveling 85 yards then 50 more struck Noiseworthy in her car near a railroad crossing. Anniston Man Dies and Is Buried in Winding Sheet
Edward M. Riley aged 76 died at his Anniston home from infirmities of old age. He requested burial in a winding sheet, which was carried out. Funeral services were at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Lewis Walverton, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery at Charleston. He is survived by two sons Virgil of Cairo Illinois and Anderville of Charleston, two daughters Mrs Helen Winland of Anniston and Miss Corrine Riley of St Louis, and a sister Mrs Annie Bass of Anniston.

Lyndall Miller, a Sikeston youth, charged with burglary and robbery in grain thefts from Buckeye Plantation and Farmers Grain and Feed, freed on bond after a Scott County arrest, was later arrested by Deputy Sheriff Ernest Scott in Mississippi County and jailed at Buckeye Plantation. Southeast Missourian veteran Judge William L Carroll longtime Sikeston resident dies at 9 30 am Tuesday April 26 after a yearlong illness He would have turned 92 on July 4 1948 born in Indianapolis in 1856 Carroll settled in Stoddard County as a youth and served two terms on the Scott County Court He was a 56 year member of the Sikeston Masonic Lodge and member of Odd Fellows Modern Woodmen Richwoods Methodist Church Surviving are his wife Susan Mary and four children including W L Carroll Jr Ben F Carroll Marvin Carroll, plus eight grandchildren and several great grandkids Funeral in Sikeston with burial at Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery. The May Fete at Sikeston High School athletic field Monday night May 2 features Queen Ruth Hollingsworth and a Winter Court led by Mary Kirkendall with escorts and a full program of songs and dances by grades 1 through 10.

Seed corn study aids fall judging contest at A&M College
One injured in collision on Frisco this morning. At the request of Ide E. Trotter, in charge of the Department of Agronomy at the A. and M. College, College Station, Texas, a quantity of high grade St. Charles White seed corn was sent by C. S. Tanner to the college last week. The corn, grown on Tanner’s Sikeston-area farm, was produced with careful study and may be certificated.

Fireman J J Baker Hurt In Frisco Wreck Near Sikeston
Jake J Baker a chauffeur on the Frisco Memphian passenger train escaped serious injury when he leaped from the coal tender as the southbound fast train collided with freight near Sikeston. The engineer Jack Green and other crew aboard were uninjured. Baker suffered facial cuts require three stitches, a lacerated knee, and a hand injury. The Memphian locomotive was buried in soft earth, with cars derailed and debris scattered while the baggage car contents were removed. A wrecking crew began clearing the scene as the freight train carried general merchandise for Memphis.
