Deep Rock Oil Co reports four feet of oil saturated sand in the Thompson No. 1 well west of Sidney with 180 feet of fluid in a drill stem test, including 150 feet oil and 30 feet oil cut mud. Gas was observed. results suggest potential near-term production though core water complicates testing. Nearby wells and the Beyer No. 1 offset hint at an emerging Cheyenne County oil area.

Potter School Bond Vote Today in No. 9 District
Voters in School District No. 9 cast ballots today on a 380000 bond issue for a new Potter school building. Backers say enrollment has surged since rural districts merged with No. 9, and current facilities are overcrowded and inadequate. The district covers about 178 square miles including Potter village and surrounding areas. Voting runs 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the American Legion Hall.

Attorneys to Contest Griffith Death Verdict
Attorneys for Hugh Griffith said Saturday they will seek a new trial for the condemned wife slayer who received the death penalty last Thursday.
