Potter School Bond Vote Today in No. 9 District
Voters in School District No. 9 cast ballots today on a 380000 bond issue for a new Potter school building. Backers say enrollment has surged since rural districts merged with No. 9, and current facilities are overcrowded and inadequate. The district covers about 178 square miles including Potter village and surrounding areas. Voting runs 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the American Legion Hall.

Attorneys to Contest Griffith Death Verdict
Attorneys for Hugh Griffith said Saturday they will seek a new trial for the condemned wife slayer who received the death penalty last Thursday. They plan to appeal to the Nebraska Supreme Court if the motion fails. Judge John Kuns will rule on the request. The defense calls the verdict harsh and largely circumstantial.
