Tour of cable plant highlights convention in Sidney

Nearly 50 members of the Nebraska Telephone Association completed a Sidney convention. State Sen Robert Clark of Sidney spoke on telecommunications policy. An extensive tour of Eltra Corporation's Independent Cable plant east of town impressed the group. The plant runs two 12 hour shifts and has operated three months. Sessions covered locating buried cable trouble and central office inspections, with supplier briefs.

One Month Left to Register for Cheyenne County Voters

Cheyenne County Clerk Bob Hessle warns fewer than four weeks remain to register for the November 5 election. Registration closes at 6 pm on October 25 for those who changed addresses moved towns changed names or never voted. Absentee ballots available at the county courthouse until November 2 must be postmarked by 8 pm on election day and returned by 10 pm on November 7.

Six Sidney residents charged in undercover drug bust

County Attorney Donald J. Tedesco announced in Cheyenne County Court that six Sidney residents face charges for being in a place where controlled substances are used. Jeffrey L. Spencer also faces a felony count of delivering marijuana. The undercover operation ran about two weeks at the request of the Sidney Police Department, with agents provided by the Nebraska Statewide Interagency Exchange. Cartwright, Cartwright, Besley, Howitt, and Wallace pled nolo contendere and were fined $100 plus costs. Spencer was arraigned with bond set at $2,000 and attorney P. J. Heaton Jr. appointed.

Denver Strike Hits Local Grocers Minimal Shopper Impact

Yeutter predicts 1975 drop in crop exports by one third

Ford to visit Nebraska for Lincoln rally date announced

United Fund reaches 21 percent of goal in Sidney
