Sidney Beef Co Plant Sold to California Interests
The Sidney Beef Co packing plant, idle since earlier troubles, was sold at foreclosure to California interests led by Paul Garrett of Los Angeles. Plans call for possible reopening within 60 to 90 days under local management, with Dick Neubauer of Sterling named to run operations and a target capacity of 400-500 head weekly. The sale, linked to a Small Business Administration loan lien, may revive nearby facilities and boost regional cattle and sheep movements.
