Residence Burned Near Burlington Track After Night Fire
Fire destroyed Samuel Shaffer’s two story frame residence in south town around 11 30 last Saturday. Firemen and neighbors fought the blaze but water was unavailable and the stairway caught, preventing second story salvage. Loss to house about 1000 dollars with 200 dollars furniture. both insured reducing net hardship. The fire likely started from the kitchen stove after Shaffer’s earlier visit to the home.

Light Plant Enlargement Underway Alike Power House Expansion
Chas Callahan leaves for the east to buy two engines and a dynamo for the electric light plant. The existing machinery remains in use during the build of a larger power house. The boiler and dynamo will move to the new building with a larger engine replacing the old one. A second system avoids shutdowns and supports a future day service. Callahan aims to have the new setup running in about sixty days.

An inexperienced worker overfilled a gasoline heater for a large coffee urn causing a flare up last Monday night. A quick customer moved the table and urn to the room center, smothering the flames and saving the wall paper from severe damage. Loss described as slight.
