The Cheyenne County Fair and Race Meet opened with a fair crowd and strong agricultural exhibits though livestock showed modest numbers. Races and bucking contests drew strong local interest, while airship flights and a parade by Wild West Shows entertained attendees amid cool winds and intermittent rain.
Elmer Grabill visits the county fair from the ranch while Clayton Radcliffe heads to a fraternity convention en route to the state university. John Null departed Monday to begin work at a school near Dalton and he expects to continue in the job.
The Stokes Orchestra performed at a hotel dance on Wednesday night drawing a large crowd in attendance.
Paul Martin Don Ahrens Ted Woods and Edward Shoemaker left Wednesday evening for the Nebraska State University at Lincoln to attend events and meetings.
Albert Johnson and his wife arrived Sunday from Chicago and he has resumed his old position in the Central Meat Market.
Mrs. O. A. Lundberg of Denver has been visiting her father E. C. Hardy and brother A. S. Hardy and wife this week. She returns to Denver today.
Geo L. Baker of Inglewood California arrived Tuesday for a brief business trip here and in the eastern part of the state where he holds property interests.

Robert S. Oberfelder contracted appendicitis in Chicago after a brief illness following a fish meal. He is hospitalized at St. Luke's Hospital. His brother Joseph communicates with doctors as a possible operation is being considered for his return to health. Snow reports flood in from Cheyenne Denver and other areas with a hopeful mood for the county fair and crops.
Mia Wallace swam from Philadelphia to Camden in a staged feat. She initially performed alone, then with her brother and a friend. She later rescued another girl, Miss Stanton, who was similarly bound. The swimmers used back and shoulder muscles, alternating sides during the voyage.
Rev Berg will read his original story Opened Eyes at the evening service next Sunday. He had previously presented the tale for the Boy's Club at Wilber Nebraska and was asked to stay a second night for another reading. Chas H B Lewis praised the two stories saying they awakened new thoughts.
Mrs Anna Schat aged 31 years 11 months 15 days wife of Wilhelm Schot living near Peetz Colorado died Monday September 16 from cancerous troubles after a period in a Denver hospital. Interment was made in Sidney Cemetery on Tuesday. Max Livoni a Sidney boy with Sherwins Wild West Show earned praise and rode his brother's horses in races.

F. J. Hooker of Batavia Illinois takes a short break from duties as postmaster to oversee real estate matters in Cheyenne County. His return date and full duties were not specified, but the pause allows focus on local property concerns.
