Airport Site Undecided by CAA for Sidney
The Civil Aeronautics Administration has not chosen between north and south Sidney airport sites after more than a year of surveys. The north site offers a 4380 foot all way field with obstructions. the south site gives three runways, better approaches, but about 30000 more in grad ing costs. CAA awaits Washington's reaction on funding before recommending a purchase.

Death of Hugh D. Moore, Former Local Resident
Mrs. Annie Jessen received word of the death of her brother Hugh D. Moore, once well known to old time residents. Moore died at 83 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A native of Pennsylvania, he moved to Nebraska early, living on a ranch north of Huntsman, now the Lieber farms. Mrs. Jessen is the last surviving family member.

Model Plane Contest Set For Sunday At Sidney Airport
The model airplane contest moved from Sept. 9 to Sunday afternoon Sept. 23 at 2 pm, weather permitting, at Sidney airport three miles west of town. Mrs Feldman Buried in Gurley Friday Service
Funeral services for Mrs Carl Feldman 52 who died Monday will be held Friday at Grace Lutheran Church Gurley at two in the afternoon. Rev Bartels will officiate with interment in Sidney Greenwood Cemetery. Gehrig Funeral Home directing pallbearers are Rathman Werth Row an Lukens Larson and Ahlm. Her death was due to an embolism following an operation a week earlier. She had moved from Hartington to Gurley area in 1915 and was active in community affairs including the Rebekahs and Lutheran groups. She is survived by her husband four children her mother a brother two sisters and six grandchildren.

More Labor Is Needed at Depot Here
More than 150 jobs as munition handlers and laborers are open at the Sioux Ordnance Depot in Sidney. Rena B. Smith announces starting wages 76 cents for handlers and 11 cents for laborers with time and a half after 40 hours. Promotions, housing on base, medical care, schools, cafeterias, and a meat market accompany the posting. Applications are to be obtained at post offices and mailed to the U. S. Civil Service Examiners at Sioux Ordnance Depot Sidney.

Two Year Term For Attempt At Murder
Frank Hedgcoth was sentenced to two years in the State prison by District Judge J L Tewell after pleading guilty to assault with intent to murder. He was picked up at Lodgepole following an altercation involving railroad extra gang members and was charged with attacking a fellow worker with a broken bottle.

Lincoln Lt Ty Kokjer Died in Japan Prison Camp
Lt Ty Kokjer son of Mr and Mrs Hans Kokjer of Lincoln and nephew of Mr and Mrs T E Kokjer of Sidney died in a Japanese prison camp on February 8. He served as a dive bomber pilot arriving in Manila in 1941 and escaped the Bataan death march with guerillas before later being captured and moved between camps including Bilibid and a prison ship wreck. He likely died in a Honshu camp after shore escape from a sunken transport.
