Nebraska Job Service Sees Little Change in August Labor Supply

In August the Cheyenne Devel and Kimball county labor pool changed little with 215 applicants available, 79 filings, and 83 hires. Nebraska unemployment fell to 35 percent statewide from July’s 37 and August of last year.

Nebraska road mixup notes US 385 segment near Sidney

A Nebraska Department of Roads information meeting in Sidney Tuesday night clarified that the highway segment between Gurley and Dalton was mistakenly labeled as Nebraska 19 in a Wednesday story. The correct designation is US 385 and the widening project is planned for about three years from now.

Simpson given life for 1976 murder in Cheyenne County

Jerry Simpson was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Joseph Skiba on November 11, 1976. He received 16 2 3 to 50 years for robbery, to run consecutively with the life term. The judge cited mental limits and a troubled record. His sister Jacqueline Brick faced a related sentencing later.
