Interstate 80 interchange plan sparks Nebraska dispute
State Highway Engineer John Hossack announced a redesigned I 80 interchange near Big Springs allowing westbound traffic a direct shot into Colorado while the Bureau of Public Roads rejected the plan. State Engineer John Hossack announced a redesigned Interstate 80 interchange near Big Springs. A day later the Bureau of Public Roads rejected the design, prompting astonishment at the rapid federal response.
180 Bids Next Month In Deuel
Lincoln The State Department of Roads announced Thursday it will open bids Oct 5 on Interstate Highway work in Deuel County, expected to cost about 1.7 million dollars. The project includes twin bridges on the Interstate between U S 138 and the 80 South interchange and 6.9 miles of grading, graveling, culverts and fence on the Interstate between U S 138 and the 80 South interchange, and between the Colorado state line and the Big Springs interchange. Of the total, 1.53 million dollars would come from federal aid and Interstate funds and 170 thousand dollars from state construction funds.

Rites set for Elwood E. Jacox Monday
Funeral services are planned for Elwood E. Jacox 57 at 10 a.m. Monday in Sidney. He died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital after a heart attack. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Jacox, born June 24, 1910, in Gothenburg, lived in Sidney nine years and was custodian at North Ward School. He married Hazel Dannar on June 7, 1940 in Gering. Surviving are his widow, his mother Lila Jacox of Vancouver, Wash., two sons Harry and Roy, four daughters Helen Davis of Hermiston Ore., Janice Alice and Linda of Sidney, one grandson Mark Jacob, two brothers Robert of Vancouver and Kenneth of Ogden, and three sisters Vida White of Benton City, Hazel Bomar of Vancouver, and Hazel Wilcox of Portland, Ore.
