Second Murder at Bridgeport Ends in Self-Defense Claim
A quarrel between Michael Hagerty and James Keith near Bridgeport left Keith dead. Hagerty surrendered to the sheriff and was held under surveillance. An inquest and jury verdict found Keith died from a shot fired by Hagerty. Jurors named include F. King and Hiram Fisk.

Death of Joseph J. Runnels Traced Across States to Nebraska
Joseph J. Runnels was born May 20 1845 in Lawrenceburg Indiana. He lived with parents until the 1870s then moved to Illinois and remained until 1886. He married Misa Sarah A Webb in 1820 and they had five children: R S G 4 RC Anna Pearl and Lutie May. In 1886 he moved to Junietta Nebraska then to Sidney in 1888 where he homesteaded. In 1902 he moved to Elwood Nebraska and died September 3 1908 at age 63 years 3 months and 13 days. His wife and children survive. Mrs Wiser and daughters are relatives of Mrs Runnels.
