Annual Reunion of the Old Settlers at Lodge Pole
Ideal weather and a well run program greeted visitors at Lodge Pole for the old settlers third annual picnic and reunion on Labor Day. Visitors from distant towns joined locals for music by Weyerts Goodview Grabill's Merrymakers and Silver Star. A successful balloon ascent drew crowds, Oshkosh beat Chappell 14 to 7 in baseball, and an air phone ride amused attendees. Notable talks included Mrs Alice K E Slinson on early days, Senator C Wy Johnson of Potter, the Cherfelder brothers of Sidney, and V F Kucera who also performed accordion solos. Exhibits, races, picnics, and a registration booth added to the lively program. The event, now a three year tradition, is expected to continue and grow each year.

Wyoming sheep grower visits Cheyenne County
William J. Martin a major Wyoming sheep grower from Rawlins traveled to Cheyenne County this week en route to Broadwater seeking a site to feed several thousand head. He has been feeding in Loveland Colorado but feed shortages there push him toward Nebraska. He toured the Lodge Pole valley and plans to buy large amounts of Cheyenne county corn for feeding if Broadwater location is secured.

Oil Truck Wrecks on Huntsman Road Wednesday
The Graham brothers oil truck belonging to the Texas Oil company overturned into a ditch near Huntsman Wednesday afternoon. George Sherrod, the driver, escaped without serious injuries as the cab was torn from the frame and the right front fender and light were badly bent.

Sidney public schools launched the fall term with a record enrollment of 650 pupils the largest for the first week. The Merry Workers held their achievement program on September 1 at the home of Misses Louise and Mahela Scheer with 12 ladies present. County Agent Willey spoke on club work. Members displayed exhibits. Six year old Potter resident Johnson son of Mr and Mrs Fred C Johnson was the youngest caller to Colonel Charles A Lindbergh on his 48 state tour. He visited in Cheyenne after missing Denver and Cheyenne appearances and asked to fly in Spirit of St Louis. Lindbergh refused but the boy felt proud to meet his idol.

Damaging Barn Blaze Destroys Walter Happell Farm Holdings
A blaze at the Walter Happell farm eight miles west and one mile south of Gurley destroyed a barn and several head of work horses, harness, pigs, and wheat. A small boy reportedly played with matches in a nearby shed before the fire, which spread before discovery. The barn was relatively new and partially insured. livestock and grain were total losses.

Prominent Kimball Attorney Injured in Cheyenne Accident
Oscar A. Torgerson, a well known Kimball attorney, suffered a fracture of his left leg when struck by a truck driven by Charles Ray in Cheyenne last Saturday morning. He was taken to Cheyenne hospital where the fracture was set and he rests easily. He had traveled to Cheyenne to see Lindbergh during his visit.
