Sidney High School looks to a record year with expanded commercial studies including shorthand and business English. The faculty is strong, facilities are modern, and the school attracts students from Cheyenne and surrounding counties with home tuition arrangements and opportunities for room and board support. Three
Local listings announce a week of shows starting Thursday with They Were Heroes, Friday fair feature, Saturday double bill including The Lady Doctors of Grizzly Gulch. The Pursuit Eternal is promoted as a dramatic two reel feature and a Joker western comedy guarantees laughs.
A three reel Gold Seal production titled The Dancer offered with no extra charge as part of Friday feature nights. The note invites attendance for these special pro ductions from renowned producers and emphasizes the feature night program.
Years ago our first honor student was a girl who worked for board and room during her course. Every young person in the vicinity is invited to seek education. No idlers will be retained. Supervision will extend to non-residents and any wasteful or improper behavior will be corrected and the parent notified. A call to keep students from quitting and joining the army of the unprepared.
H E Hawker from Dawson County visited his brother in law J L Tewell last Saturday. Mrs Thomas Lally associate editor of the Dalton Delegate attended to business matters in Sidney Monday. A A Brauer of Sundl was in town Saturday driving a Buick six bought from J A Bentley, agent for this territory. The Neubauer home is getting a silver grey and white paint job as part of a city wide paint-up crusade ongoing.
Fred Seeger sold two sections of land in ten days including one section in a tract. Land men report numerous inquiries regarding land sales and prospects in the area.
Miss Mabel Breternitz returned Monday to her home in North Platte. She was accompanied by her cousin May Breternitz who will visit a week. Miss Myrtle Taylor went to her home at Sund Tuesday evening after spending three weeks with her aunt Mrs. Bismark Range northwest of Sidney.
L. F. Cunningham and wife visited Sidney on Tuesday to arrange school enrollment for their children. They keep a home locally and spend summers on the ranch.
F G Griffith and son Ferl spent the past week applying several improvement rents on the corner of Washington and Pine. The display colors are tobacco brown and white.
L. D. Stafford of Spokane Washington spent a few hours in Sidney last Sunday with his brother Friand Stafford. The visitor is a traveling salesman for an eastern dry goods house and his territory is in the west.
F S Stone suffered a severe facial injury when a lever slipped while he worked on an elevator. The force shattered six front teeth and left his appearance unexpectedly unaltered, a point noted with relief.
A Telegraph job department note praises an attractive and novel Episcopal souvenir program from the Children's Festival Day. It highlights artistry and novelty. Next week the E. M. S. Club year book goes to press along with other orders.
Mr and Mrs Henry Lueninghoe ner and their son Gilbert of Hooper Nebraska spent several days this week inspecting crops on their two farms northwest of Sidney. They expressed high satisfaction with the investment here which has paid for itself several times over.
Sidney experiences a building boom with record lumber sales and rapid construction. A new electric light plant nears completion promising relief from outages. The new high school rises swiftly, praised as a model, with plans for a swimming pool and gymnasium to meet modern needs.
Mrs Ramsey of Concord NH visits aunt and uncle Mr and Mrs B A Jones. Mrs Riggs and her daughter return home after visiting eastern part of state. Fred Dawson his wife and daughter went to Denver last Sunday and will return tomorrow. Mrs Metz and Mrs Simons start fall rush at Hornaday Store. R O Chambers and family visited Judge Chambers home briefly. Mrs George Davis and Miss Rebecca Lyon came back Friday from six day trip to Denver and Cheyenne.
Cheyenne County and F B Johnson reach settlement after long dispute. Johnson pays 8 357 40 to Cheyenne County with costs to be covered, one third of remaining funds allocated to Morrill County. Cheyenne County covers Timblin attorney fees and minor expenses. Funds remitted to W P Miles and handed to County Attorney Radcliffe.
Daniel Short aged sixty four former Livingston Montana businessman and mayor died after a weeklong illness beginning with a stroke. Born in Scotland he was a thirty second degree Mason and is survived by Mrs Short. He was highly esteemed in Livingston and Sidney where he resided.
Meager reports announce the death of Mrs Henry Weisman and her fourteen year old daughter after being struck by a train near their California home. The couple had previously left their likely well regarded farm near here years ago, leaving many local acquaintances shocked by the tragedy.
Government Weather Observer Fischer reports August precipitation at 4.72 inches for the South Divide area. July rainfall totaled 1.11 inches, according to the same observer.
Miss Myrtle Hiett leaves after six weeks with family and friends aboard No. 17 to visit the World's Fair in San Francisco then proceed to Los Angeles where she will teach. A companion teacher joined from Beatrice to travel together.
Denver written piece reports talks by Tore Teigen and a group of investors from St Paul and Minneapolis on buying the Denver Scranton railroad. It discusses a potential Great Northern branch from Yankton to Denver via O Neill Hyannis Oshkosh crossing UP at Sidney and linking Harden to Scranton, with Havemeyers named as owners, to cut distance from St Paul to Denver by over 200 miles. The plan echoes a ten year old Elkhorn survey that was abandoned after a Northwestern Union Pacific tie up.
S V Jewell of Lincoln Nebraska arrived Wednesday to visit his daughter Mrs S V Wallick and her family tonight.

Miss Laura Wallick of Lincoln Nebraska traveled to Denver for sightseeing arriving Thursday. It marks her second visit to the city this summer and reflects a lively travel pattern from the Nebraska capital.
The Hansen families from in and near Potter traveled last Saturday by auto and joined Mr. and Mrs. Charles Trognitz and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Trognitz for dinner in a social gathering noted in local notices.
Devel County last Tuesday took formal possession of its new court house as commissioners officially accepted the building. The handsome structure of golden brick with lighter trim houses all required offices and conveniences and is expected to serve the county for many years. A picture of the building appeared in last week's Register.
Charles Trognitz will depart in the morning for Denver, Colorado Springs, and possibly Salt Lake City and Idaho Springs to seek relief for rheumatism and kidney trouble, expecting a month or more away.
Mrs J. W. Nelson and her niece Miss Bessie Cross return home after six weeks with Charles Cross in Des Moines Iowa. The young man died of congestive heart failure on August 23rd.
Mr and Mrs Karl Trognitz traveled to Kimball on Wednesday and expected to begin a hunting and fishing trip in the Wyoming mountains. They were joined by several family members of Mrs Trognitz.

Mr and Mrs Roy Bancroft and their children left Wednesday for Dwyer Wyoming after visiting relatives the Haistons and Bancrofts while finishing a fine wheat harvest and plans to return home.
Miss Stuht recently moved into a new residence in the south part of town and plans a larger bungalow later. Over a brief unwatched period two items were stolen, a large eight day clock and a teapot lid. The clock key is left at the post office for pickup, and the lid can be retrieved on request.
Co. M. Wright, John Pantenburg and Ed Brennan installed heating and plumbing for the new Broadwater school. The town moves forward in building progress, aiming for status among growing midwestern communities.
Miss Myrtle Lancaster Deputy County Treasurer Miss Helen Lancaster and Miss Edna Granneman depart Thursday evening for the exposition city. They expect to stay on the coast a month or six weeks.
Roscoe Tate and Clem Cunningham of Lodgepole are chosen to represent Cheyenne County at the state fair Boys State Encampment. The program is an educational movement of great benefit to all boys.
Five Sidney hunters joined others from across the state September first at the sand hills north of the North Platte river to hunt wild ducks. They reported good sport and many birds fallen. Additional parties gathered at the Varjova lakes for the same opening.

Frank Schroeder returned from Colorado with hay fever. A derailment hit Crook Colorado on Monday delaying Train No 14. Engineer George Chamberlain injured and two engines damaged. cause under investigation.
WEDDING BELLS. Casp er Meininger of Atwood Colorado and Mary Michael of Sterling Colorado wed August 28 at the Lutheran parsonage with witnesses Mr Miller of Sterling and Mrs Clark Fuller. Clarence Vern McGhee and Lola Cossey, Burdett Colorado, united August 30 by Judge Chambers. Jesse C Hoadley and Alice M Davis, Potter, married in Sidney September 1 by County Judge Chambers. Harry B Curtis and Harriett Clark, Denver, joined by Judge Chambers on September 2.
The County Superintendent asks every boy and girl to bring products to the courthouse for display at the fair. Anyone who has garden crops, handmade crafts, sewing, cooking, or carpentry should contribute. The aim is to show what the county’s youth can do and encourage future efforts.
Eleven horses from out of town registered for the track at the Cheyenne County fair. The fair will feature a merry go round a tent show and other attractions. The grand stand judges stand stalls and race track have been finished in readiness for the exhibit. Fair dates are September 9 10 and 11.
Clarence Jones and B. F. George of Bingham Iowa arrived with a new threshing outfit last Monday. Both men anticipate becoming permanent residents of the county, signaling a settled future in the area.
Higher temperatures Wednesday will rise then fall moderately by Friday and settle to seasonable levels thereafter. Overall weather will be generally fair with light to moderate changes across the period.
